iTunes Music Converter - Convert iTunes Music M4P to MP3

As the most popular online music store iTunes has millions of customers which download thousands of music every second.
M4P – a copyright protected iTunes format of "protected AAC". It is a format of downloaded music from iTunes store that can be listened to only through the iTunes compatible players like iPod.
So, if you want to listen to iTunes purchased music with other mp3 players such as Zune, Creative Zen, cell phone and play itune music on windows media player, window movie maker or share them with your friends, you have to convert M4P to MP3 first.

Now, we can convert M4P to MP3 with two methods.

1.Burning and re-import.
2.Convert M4P to MP3 with a Professional Protected Music Converter

Solution 1: M4P->CD-> MP3
To convert M4P to MP3, you can burn M4P onto a CD (using the iTunes CD burning option), then re-import the CD as unprotected MP3 into the iTunes library.
1. Buy songs on iTunes.
2. Insert a blank CD. (You'd better use a rewrite CD which can be used circularly and use some software like Nero to wipe off the music files you have processed.)
Note: You need to change iTunes settings in "Edit"->" Preferences" before burn and import.
Follow the picture instructions below:

3. Go to File->Create a New Playlist

4. Drag and Drop files you want from your library to the New Playlist.

5. Right-click playlist and select "Burn Playlist to Disc" or you can left- click "Burn Disc"

6.After conversion, left-click “import CD” to import CD files to iTunes library as MP3 format.
(And you can find the unprotected MP3 file by the side of the original file in > "My Document" > "My music" > "iTunes".)

Solution 2: Convert iTunes M4P to MP3 directly
Daniusoft Digital Music Converter can convert M4P to MP3 with one step and the speed is up to 27x. It also can convert protected WMA to MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG and various file formats on Windows PC.

DRM Removal Software Review

In this article, I will discuss softwares that can remove DRM and convert DRM. DRM stands for digital rights management. It claims to protect digital media from piracy. However, DRM does nothing to stop copyright pirates. The main purpose of DRM is financial. It prevents lawful user from making back up of purchased music and enjoying music on third-party players. It may also cause some security issues, because DRM controls your computer, automatically connects to Internet.

I prefer to remove DRM from my purchased music so I can enjoy my music without estrictions. Here are some softwares that can help you remove DRM and convert DRM.

Digital Media Converter
http://www.wmatomp3-converter.com/digital-media-converter.html

This is my favorite DRM removal software. In fact, I only use this application to convert DRM files now. It can perform all types of conversion including video to video, video to audio, and audio to audio. It is the only software that can remove DRM without recording and the conversion speed is very fast. Highly recommend.

Tunebite
http://tunebite.com/

I used to use Tunebite before I found Digital Media Converter. Supporting many formats is its advantage. Its disadvantage is it can only remove DRM by recording, so the conversion speed is slow and I can’t do anything else on my computer during the conversion process.

SoundTaxi
http://www.soundtaxi.info/

Another software that uses the recording method. I think there is a bug in SoundTaxi. It starts converting even though the convert button is not clicked.

NoteBurner
http://www.noteburner.com/

NoteBurner acts as a virtual CD burner. It adds an icon to the system tray and can only be used within a player.

In summary, SoundTaxi and Tunebite work by recording while Digital Media Converter directly converts. The results of this difference are Digital Media Converter needs less time to finish converting and you can perform other tasks when using it. Tunebite and Digital Music Converter both support many formats, however, Tunebite needs lame_enc.dll to support mp3 or it can't work with mp3. In my opinion, Daniusoft Media Converter is the best choice to remove DRM and convert DRM protected files.

Remove DRM from iTunes M4V M4P AAC

ITunes DRM files include AAC, M4V and M4P. If you don't remove itunes DRM it’s impossible to play them on any Apple incompatible devices, like Zune, Creative Zen, PSP, mobile Phone, Windows media Player, Windows Movie Maker, etc. This turns out really bad if you want to buy a new mp3 player which is not manufactured by Apple.

So, The way not to delete itunes DRM files, you could try some methods or programs that remove DRM off of the iTunes files. Please note that using programs might be illegal in the country where you are living, make sure you know what you are doing before downloading and using them.

1. Remove iTunes DRM protection using iTunes + CD-R
Follow these 5 steps:
Create an iTunes playlist containing your purchased songs.
Insert a blank CD-R or a CD-RW.
Burn the playlist to disk.
Re-import the songs after a successful burn.
Deleting the original purchased tracks.

2. Remove iTunes DRM with DRM Remover in Windows
One of these DRM Remover is Daninusoft Media Converter Pro which can remove iTunes DRM with its newest version (2.2.1.0). The reason I list it here is the newest version has modified its two major disadvantages compare with the former one: 1. Be compatible with Vista OS. 2. Supports all iTunes DRM files. And with its original advantages: 1. High conversion speed. 2. Supports many other popular standard video and audio files. 3. Friendly-use interface. It could be a good choice for DRM remove and Media conversion.

3. Remove iTunes DRM with Apple software in Leopard
The current iteration of iMovie released with the iLife '08 software bundle is iMovie 7.1. However, in order to remove DRM protection, you will need iMovie HD - previously bundled with iLife '06. Once downloaded and installed, start iMovie HD and 'Create a New Project' titled "DRM-free". Save the project to your Desktop.

In the iMovie window, select the 'Media' tab located between 'Themes' and 'Editing'. You will notice that the top right portion of the interface now offers a media browser. Select the 'Audio' tab and locate the playlist which contains purchased music, or search by artist / title.

Select the DRM-laden song and drag the file from the media browser into the iMovie timeline where it says "Drag audio here to build your project."

In order to export the song, iMovie requires that a visual image be associated with the audio track - iMovie thinks that it is going to be exporting a movie. Simply drag a blank image (or any other image) to the track above the previously imported audio file. Once iMovie has processed the image, select the 'Share…' sub menu item from found inside 'Share' in iMovie's menu bar.

Ensure that "Expert Settings" is selected in the "Compress movie for:" drop-down menu. Selecting 'Expert Settings' mode will provide the options to export the file as an audio file. Select the 'Share' button.
In the Save as… dialogue, select "Sound to AIFF" in the Export drop-down menu, Choose an appropriate directory for iMovie to export to, title the file, and select 'Save'. Depending on your machine configuration, iMovie will compress and export the movie project as an audio file in 15-40 seconds.

Locate the exported AIFF audio file and drag to your iTunes Library. Right-click on the file and select "Convert Selection to AAC". Once completed, 'Get Info' on the new file, edit meta data, add album art, and trash the originally purchased and AIFF audio files from your iTunes library.

Remove DRM Protection from WMV WMA

Most of the protected video and music downloaded online like Windows Media Player iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Bearshare , Spiral Frog are all DRM files.

What is DRM? Why do we remove DRM from windows WMA, M4P and WMV?

DRM (Digital Rights Management) - The anti consumer copy protection that prevents you from using music or movies in a way that suits you.
For example, if a DRM WMA or DRM WMV you downloaded from WMP(windows media player) that has windows DRM, you can only play it back on a compatible device, so if every piece of music had windows DRM on it you would need to buy the same track on CD to listen in your CD player or car, as an iTunes download to play on your iPod, as a ms store download to play on your Zune etc, but since you paid for it once you shouldn't be forced to pay for it again and again and again, remove windows DRM and you can play it on your phone, iPod, Zune, PSP, CD player, pc, and anything else that you can listen to music on.

I got a few methods listed below:
1. Burn and rip
Actually, there is a common free method to remove DRM WMA, M4P with 2 steps:
Step 1 Burn the DRM WMA, M4P to a CD.
Step 2 Rip the DRM WMA, M4P from CD to your computer as MP3 format , then the DRM should be removed from the WMA files.
But it's not very convenient that may wear out your CR-ROM, and It also needs a blank CD, a CD burner and a CD ripper to help you.

2. Re-record
One of the most common and simple technology is recording the DRM WMA and DRM WMV then use an ordinary converter to convert the recorded and unprotected files. Because this technology is easy to realized and easy to support more DRM formats besides DRM WMA and DRM WMV it is welcomed by most of the DRM converters like the SoundTaxi,Tunebite, etc.
But there are some disadvantages for those programs.
1. The conversion speed won't get much improvement due to the long recording process.
2. Much audio and video quality could be lost during the recording process.

3. Hook
Hook is another new and more complicated technology which can be used to remove Windows DRM. Comparing with Re-recording software, these sorts of programs have much higher conversion speed, but it's hard to make it support some DRM formats with new and lofty encryption techniques.
And as far as I know, Daniusoft was one of its supporters. After giving a test for some free trials I found it's very easy to remove DRM from WMV WMA files with Daniusoft Digital Music Converter, and it also can extract audio from DRM WMV and othe video files and supports other audio formats conversion like M4P, AAC, AC3, WAV, M4A, M4b, MP3, etc.

You can free download the Digital Music converter to have a try:

Simple steps for conversion:
1. Add DRM WMV , DRM WMA, iTunes M4P and other protected files.
2. Choose the output format you need
3. Pressthe "Start" button.
